Jennifer Elliott

Crafting Stories

Jennifer writes a variety of genres. She has written a memoir about grief, Holding Hands: A Love Letter from a Recovering Death Denier. Other times, she writes creative nonfiction, Patton Lumber (which can be found on Jennifer’s Substack:). Often —quite frequently, actually— she writes poetry: It is Warm Where He is, is featured in the Central Oregon Writers Guild 2024 Literary Collection. Lately, she has been crafting short stories and dipping her toes into writing a novel.

Holding Grief: A Love Letter from a Recovering Death Denier is Elliott’s very personal but —wholly universal— exploration of death and grief’s relentless ebb and flow. It’s a memoir that offers accessible, action-driven self-help.

Reader Testimonials

Melissa

"Reading this book seemed more like I was having an intimate conversation with a friend. As the author shared her stories I found myself feeling like I wasn’t alone in my grief. Someone else was experiencing the same thing and got to the other side. The author gave me permission to be gentle with myself as I journeyed through grief. She gave meaningful insights throughout the book. I especially liked The Takeaway section. There were multiple helpful tidbits to apply to the healing process. This is the perfect book to buy for yourself, if you are experiencing any type of grief, or helping someone work through their grief. Also a wonderful gift to share with a friend."

"I just finished this read and it was exactly what I needed. Losing my someone close to me recently had me feeling really lost, but this book felt like a friend sitting beside me, helping me navigate through my grief. Jennifer’s honest stories—from losing family to pets—really resonated with me. Each chapter offered practical steps that actually felt doable, like little lifelines thrown my way. It’s comforting and empowering all at once. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone going through a tough time with loss. It’s a book that makes you feel understood and gives you the tools to start healing."
